Hi.. I completely agree with harsha.. buddy is required to make the new joinee comfortable and to acquaint him with the organisation...

I had intoduced the Buddy programme a while back in my organisation. i see a very good response of this programme and it had helped the new joinees alot.
All you will have to do is
Motivate your employees to be the Buddy,
Tell them the objective of the programme
Ask them ideas to make if better
give them a sense of ownership of the entire programme
Also what makes them feel happy and motivated is share the feedback of the new joinee( positive ones :) ) with the buddy
And then dont forget to reward could be a small gift as an appreciation

Buddies System in the organisation is done to help the new joinees understand the culture, work, value system and process and settle down fast in the organisation...Buddy system can also act as a back up of employees incase an employee is absent from work due to some reason and he can help the employee finish the task that were assigned to him......
