Headhunting is a way to attract people from different companies and recruit.

Talent Mapping has to be done when you have requirements in hand.

Try to understand the Technologies you need to recruit, understand the domain from which you need to get people (Telecom, Insurance, banking ectc). Map various companies which work on the same technologies and domain. Prepare a list and start hunting for people for the companies you have in list by making calls to the companies directly, or search resumes in job boards with specific keywords or building network with employees in the list of companies you have and getting references from them.

Identifying the companies and calling them on board line asking for some common names and hunting and increasing your network and getting as many as possible employee names and talk to them about oppurtuniy was the only possible process of headhunting when I started my career in HR and Recruitments, but now it is difficult task to do as every company is having the EPBX which flashes the phone numbers...
