Well, I believe also the same now that there is no solution to this problem except this that :
" The amount of money which you can afford to give as charity or even if it goes away and does not affects you then that much amount should be given, after all he is your friend so some what help should be done."
Otherwise, we'll loose our friend. I still do remember my friend whom I lost just because of this reason and now I want to contact him by conveying him that if he is not paying me the money then no problem (as I have already lost it) but I must not loose you, my friend.
This is the best way and solution to this problem, in my opinion. If any one has got any other solution then please discuss.

Hi Arv
after reading your post i am a bit speechless. c it is very difficult to comment upon that whether lending is good or bad but definitely i would like to say one thing that money spoils the relationships whether it is between the friends or the relatives but yes at the same time you must to forget that a freind in deed is a friend in need but then at the same time you need to be more observant about you dealings with people. you are not rbi keep on lending to everybody everytime.
arv just keep one thing in mind, whenever you want to lend a money to a person you should know his status in the office. by status i mean to say you should reach people and ask whether it is his routine to ask for money or not. and if someone is asking for money from you please think one WHY ME????
same incident happend with my parents also and they had to bear a loss of not less than 80,000/-. they also lend to one of his friends and later that fellow forgot saying that apko galti lag rahi hai. now c that time to we felt that ab to paise udhar dete samay bhi receipt katwani chahiye. :?
but you really cnat do anything. that whihc ought to happen will happen!! :o

Dear Khalid,
I would like to put forth one point, You have mentioned that you have lost your friend for this reason, but tell me one thing is he considers you a true friend , if he really did he would come back and atleast asked for you or tried to contact you , I agree that Human relationships are important than the money but when some one really considers your worth that u had helped them at the hour of emergency how can we call them as a friend. Are they really worth being called as friend. Do think about it

Well Dear,
I think that sometimes a person becomes too much shy on his own behavior that he don't have the courage to face others.
Similarly, I believe that he is probably in that kind of situation that's why he is not contacting me. After all, he was one of my best friends and we have passed excellent time with each other.
An other thing is that if I am contacting him myself and telling him that we won't ever discuss this topic again so forget it, I think by doing this I will not loose my respect instead it shows a person's care which he has for other. And thus I'll have my friend back.
But remember one thing that everyone has some kind of weakness so while making friend make a graveyard for putting all of his bad qualities and habits into that. This is the only way to continue with this relationship.

I do have the same problems. When I am faced this situation no matter how hard I try I just can’t say “No”, which is one of the most bad qualities to have unfortunately. But my mother keeps reminding me, “Lending money will make you loose both your money and your friend” but that just remains a hard struck advice which I can’t stick by to!! :(
But what is worse in my case is I do not even have the courage to ask it back from the person I leant it to. I just keep postponing or telling my self that if the person is able to, in time he/she will return which almost always never happens.
But whenever I read something or hear something like this, I tell myself to try harder!!

hi there
sad stories........ but in my point of view we hv to take out some money for all these happenings from our income for the mode of chairty and if v get it back v shd nt use it and keep it ready to giv away again for same situations. If v dint get it back thn again v shd save some more money and b ready for all this. make a budget regularly whether small or big.
the moral of the statement is.. its life and it will happen again n again u cant do more, xcpt to accept it. u can giv less money against the needful figure if u feel tht its not gonna come back to u or u want xtra money badly for ur future. later if u come to know ur frnd fooling u around hv courage to talk wid him and fight for ur honour.
dont shut the door if anybody knoks u, may b ur frnd reltv or stranger. no matter how bitter xperinc u hv, actually whole money is not urs u will hv to loose it.
u ppl seems to b a beautiful hearted human beings wid pity xperiencs, but i wud request u to nt to stop lending money, u can change the way of lendin it but pl dont stop.

ok, all of u say that if u lend the money u might end up losing both... but even if u don't lend the money, u might still end up losing the friend...
and then u might feel..oh... i should have lend the money.. compared to the friend. the money is not that important..
ah...... really confusing.. :p & conflicting!!
