I too subscribe to the advice given by most of the valued contributors. You are too young and inexperienced at the moment to handle what you desire your career goal to be. Moreover how much of recruitment can an FMCG be involved in? They are sure to move you to more challenging assignments. If you were working with a placement consultant there was a chance of your getting stamped a s a recruiter. But, in case of FMCG I don't think you need to fear about it.

As far as I know, the profile of HR Generalist is quite difficult to come by in today's market scenario, specially in the sector where you are. You should always look for opportunities but unless you join an organization and start working you cannot be sure that what has been promised will be given right away. Pls give time to the mgmt also to assess your strengths as they also cannot hand over PMS and HRD to rookies. You can meanwhile update your knowledge on the areas of your choice and change only when you get a better offer. Experience of less then a year is rarely counted as experience and you also cut a sorry figure of being a job hopper.

All the best for a great professional career and a bit more of patience.

Morning Zufar,

I hope you doing well at your level. I can easily understand your concern. We all who are experienced today were some day a fresher like you. Normally at beginning people start switching reason can be anything.

But my point is if you are working in core recruitment company then it will be compulsory that you have to focus 90-100% on recruitment and you can perform if you have passion for that profile. Rest HR doesn't means only recruitment but yes in all companies % of recruitment in your job profile can be differ , HR is very vast concept like Maintaining MIS, Event organisation, Employee welfare, Employee Engagement and every thing will be done if you are willing to do that. And remember every new idea need some time to accept by others.

So as a whole i believe until you get good opportunity stay on this one and bring more innovative ideas in front of your seniors and till then its up to you you want to learn or not. Because some said only I can teach my self no one else.

Feel free to get in touch with me for any other clarification or support you may need.

Keep up the good work.

Best Regards,

Dear Zufar,
I completely agree with Mr.Saikumar and Mr.Ravi Teja, Your career is at a very initial stage that too in HR for you to comment on stagnancy aspects,HR is a vast and extensive field ,each area has a lot to understand and study,HR jobs are difficult to get by,I would suggest you should stick in your current role ,learn and imbibe the aspects of HR from your seniors at least for year and a half ,you will find yourself much abled and confident then to take on the new roles.Every job has something exciting to offer you just have to arm yourself with that excitement and continue,I am sure you will soon be well established in your forte!Al the best!!

Hi Bro,
Its good to hear that you were selected in campus placement & joined immediately after the completion of your MBA. Don't leave the job until you get your dream job. My best suggestion is that go for a certified training on performance appraisal from a very good institute. Work on a live project & grab some real time experience. Approach the HR dept head or MD & tell about your interest as well as your certifications. If they are really interested to retain you, definitely they will offer you the new position or else search the other company who will offer you the desired position. Salary should not be the constraint as you are fresher.
Have a bright future.

Dear Sir / Madam,

You are a fresh MBA Graduate passed out and glad to note that you have got recruited through Campus Recruitment Programme in an FMCG in the UP East.

You are in the initial stage of your career and this is called as learning stage for you.

As far as your role is concerned, whaterver task is given to you as a HR Generalist in the Organisation where you are presently working, you may take it up as a challenge and complete the task and impress your Department.

If you are not interested to take up your role as a HR Generalist , you may talk to your Boss and try to change your profile to specialist role where u can concentrate on one role.

I think you are a bit worried about your careers path , which you need not worry at this point of time as you are now in a learning stage and try to grab the knowledge from your learning and prove the same to the management when the oppurtunity comes to you at right point of time.

I wish you to take it in the right spirit and do not bother about the CTC as this point of time.

Wishing you all the very best for a rewarding career.

Regards

My two bits:
a) 6 months is too little time to judge a job, that too, your first job
b) Work everywhere is typical and routine - its not that HR generalists in other companies are building rockets. Infact, even building rockets becomes routine after a while. You need to balance your desire for thrill and the need to do the same thing for a long time so that you attain excellence.
c) Switching jobs is fine. Done smartly, it can really launch your career but you got to be rational about why you switch and where you go to. Don't go with unrealistic expectations.
d) Play the long term game. Build skills, build resume points, build contacts. Then use them to get your dream job. Don't jump off the ship in a hurry.

Hi,
A fresher should work at one place for at least 1 year. No Hurry in building career / goal. Understand what for HR and its functions. Recapitulate the subject in respect of IR other HR related laws while doing job. It boosts your confidence practically.
