Hello,

I agree with Mr Arbind that workmen in a manufacturing company are paid double the normal rates of wages for working beyond working hours (working for more than 9 hours a day or 48 hours a week) and hence wage cut is to be effected for late coming.

Following is suggested for late coming.

1. 10 Minutes grace time may be allowed to all those who are entitled for overtime wages.

2. Wage cut is to be effected for Late coming beyond 10 minutes in multiple of 15 minutes and subject to a maximum of one hour late coming i.e.,

(a) those who come late for 11 min. to 15 minutes - 15 minutes wage cut

(b) those who come late for 16 min.to 30 minutes - 30 minutes wage cut

(c) those who come late for 31 min.to 45 minutes - 45 minutes wage cut

(d) those who come late for 45 min.to 1.00 hr - 1 hour wage cut.

If any one come beyond one hour he/she has to apply half-a-day leave.

For those who are not entitled for overtime wages grace time may be half=an-hour or one hour maximum (considering the fact that they stay beyond working hours). However, a condition may be put that they are required to compensate the late coming either on weekly basis or monthly basis. But, beyond one hour late in a day, they are also required to apply half a day leave.

Further, disciplinary action, as per the provision of conduct rules, may be initiated for habitual late comers.

Hi everyone, I suggest not to deduct salary, which is unfair. Instead you can dedcut leaves for lates. If there are no leaves in his account then we may go for LOP.

Hi everyone,
I suggest not to deduct salary, which is unfair. Instead you can dedcut leaves for lates. If there are no leaves in his account then we may go for LOP. We removed grace period concept. Intially we faced complications from employees, but slowly they got habituated for intime. I feel punctuality makes everything work smoothly. We can also deliver output in right time. It is all chain process.

What about the employees who work till little late by hour. if they come late, they respond back saying they are sitting late. pls advise.

As HR people we should ensure Puntuality. Non-puntual cannot be the rason for coming late. Late sitting may also be termed as inefficient to do work ontime.

Dear Curious,
One another point to be add here,
1)Every month taking System panch record from the Sysem and as per that data framing in Excel late coming report department wise.
2) As per that you get habitually late comer,
3) Every month Send this report to Respective Department Head, they also know a person working under them how many times coming late.
4) Creating PPT Department wise every month for Late coming and taking meeting with all Department Head,
5) Late coming & absentiseem this two area are directly connected with the Loss of Productivity and casual approch of work.
6) In the meeting you will decide action on Late comers with all concern departments Head & your Superiour

Dear Sir,

Late coming can be reduced to minimum. This can not be eliminated totally as we are Human beings, there are several factors affecting us. There are lot of controllable and uncontrollable factors affecting us in the environment. Every employee has to struggle in his life before entering the office. Family problems, Traffic Problems, Health, etc are some factors preventing punctuality of an individual. Loyal employees are sometimes become late due to some genuine reasons. Hence, as said above, salary cut is a severe punishment for late arrival. Otherwise, do salary cut in the current month and repay the recovered amount at the end of the year. Employees should not be aware of this method. Rather other methods can be sorted out to minimize late coming. It is better to advance office timing by 15 minutes. For example, if you expect the employees to come to office by 9:30, then change office timing as 9:15 with 15 minutes grace time. As every individual can not be expected to follow strict time management, late arrival is found ever and everywhere.

Dear Sir.
In Manufacturing factory, one should come atleast 10 minutes in advance , take instructions from superior and to proceed
for work. Late coming is a misconduct as per Standing Orders of the Factory. Persons always coming late are lliable for
discharge from service.
For first late - give warning, 2nd time late impose fine, 3rd late mark half day present or tell him to goback and let him come tomorrow in time. If you state a late policy - It will become as a matter of right. Controlling the persons will become a problem and work also suffers. Don't do such policy. Be strict for late coming persons.
Regarding persons working late and coming late, change their timings according to their work requirement.

Hi
1. Regarding the grace period please make a note that it should not be more than 15 mins, in case if there is any delay like pickup issues, or employee related information should be available. otherwise three times 15 mins delay half day payment cut.
2. Regarding official work make sure whoever is going out for official work he/she fills the out going pass which contains the purpose and the duration of the work.
3. As per the time management the employee has to punch at the right time, what the management can do is by providing compensation ( like adjustment in leave ,etc. )

Your office punch in time is 10.00am late coming grace period 5minutes 2 times in a month with genuine reasons rest all late punch in should be marked half day. If there is any query for half day absent than it must be in written application approved by HOD and forward to HR with their comments. Then you have to take approval from your Senior. Make another shift for dispatch staff like 12.00 to 08.00pm will be a right solution for your problem. official work out going or late coming must be authorized by their seniors only. You are HR judge yourself who's coming late with genuine reasons or unreasonable excuses once you mark them absent for half day than they automatically understand gravity. Either change the office time schedule by 09.00am to 06.00pm 1st tea break 11.15 2nd break for lunch on 1.30pm and 3rd tea break on 03.15pm.

Just suggest this schedule to all them and your late coming problem may be solve because as per laws we must take work from employees 8hrs. and after every 2.15hr we have to provide a break for 15minutes.

shift analysis is also a very good tool for avoiding late coming & employees satisfaction.
