• Your employee strength is very small and probably you are not having standard rules and procedures in place.
  • Generally Salary Structure in case of same grade employees has to be uniform and their HRA %age also should be same.
  • HRA %age can be different for different grades or it may be different according to nature of job and responsibility. For example HRA for Officers will be 30% but for Clerk/Assistant it could be 20%. However it is expected that uniformity in HRA %age is maintained within those specific categories of Officers and Clerks/Assistants.

Hello everyone. I am currently studying HR and need your help on a topic I am confused about. Can the HRA be any percent of the basic/gross salary? I mean can an employer pay say 10% or maybe 15% of the gross salary as HRA or does it have to be a minimum of 40 percent of basic pay for non-metros and 50 percent for metros.
I am so confused on this so please help. Hoping for a reply

Those who are in the CTC regime, the HRA can be different as per the choice of employees to save the tax subject to the ceiling of 50% of basic+DA on Metros and 40% on non-metros. Pon
