Ask them to brainwash the India government, they cant land up paying fines..!
As far as I know you have to pay double the daily wage / you have keep your office / estanlishment closed for the day.
Or
Pay the fine....!

Dear madura,
As per the shops & establishment act of respective state there are some mandatory holidays to be declared in all the firm like Republic Day,Independance Day,Labour Day,Gandhi Jayanthi and Kannada Rajotsava (applicable in karnataka).
For instance if the shops/restaurants are open on those days as per the law the employees who worked that day will be given an compensatory off or a double wages.
If your firm is working on Independence day,you can tell them about the above options.

The best way to celebrate independence is not to enjoy a holiday as an Indian , but to think about what we do as an Indian Citizen for the country on the day.

Dear Madhura,
15th August is a national holiday in India, so on attendance register, no one should sign on that day and better we should observe that day and can increase one working hour for one hour in the next week.

Dear Madura,
The law is very clear that it has to be a closed holiday. However, in case of an emergency only those employees who are essentially required should be called to work. In such case you need to inform the labour office. Further you need to give them a compensatory off and also pay additional as per the rules applicable in your state.
My personal opinion - Independence Day is an effort that got us this freedom which we take for granted. Working on this day is a sign of disrespect to those who fought for it and those who fought to keep our enemies at bay post independence. Will any American company work on 04th July. Never! So why can't we also give the same respect to our Independence Day?

Dear all!! Sentiments apart there are certain essential services like security, certain operatations, maintenance etc which have to work 24X7 and any national holiday is not an exception. From your query it is not clear whether u r a factory or commercial establishment. In case u r a factory then follow the Standing Orders, in case a commercial establishment, find out from the applicable Shop And Establishment Act, since there are variance from state to state on the compensation to be provided.

Hi All,

nice discussion is going on for this topic. It's really nice to see people looking to get an off from your office. Well it's up to the organisation's policy. And i do believe now in these days management can get you better atmosphere in the office instead of your time which you will be spending out the organisation.

The fact is this We should have to use all these words like we are indians?

Do we have any doubt to be proven as we are not indian.

It should have been spoken by others in positive manner that they are indian.

Come on if you have joined an organisation. Try to think to expand it instead of looking for the way to relax. You will have your entire life to relax no one will ask you what and why .. Only after you have proved your identity. So think positively what is more important for you will it be going out with friends for hang out or to complete the pending project???

Please don't mind for any thing as it's vary from person to person .

so Decide and take your steps.

HI
First Need to get approval / written permission from authorities under which you are covered
Secondly you need to inform the nearest polic Station in writting that your office is open on 15th
Thirdly you need to give overtime to employees for the day
fourth you need to gie holiday inlieu of 15th also.
fifth if any employee require leave for the day and it is very necessary you cannot stop him

Hi Friend,
You just Should not work on a National Holiday as per the act. Except for the emergency operations like security, Mainenance and other critical opns, No one should work on National Holidays. Declaring Holiday on National Holidays such as May day, Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanthi are mandatory.
