My sir told me he wants a salary break for the 20000 in hand amount. Please tell me if there is a Basic, HRA, gratuity, bonus, or other allowances.

Based on a net amount of 20,000 INR in hand, YOU can allocate:
Basic Salary: 10,000 INR
House Rent Allowance (HRA): 4,000 INR
Remaining 6,000 INR could be distributed among other allowances or deductions as per company policies.

If the Net take home salary is 20,000/- per month, then gross monthly salary must be more than 20,000/- per month. There will be deduction like PF, ESI ( if applicable ) & PTAX compulsory.

In this case the monthly gross may be in between 21,500 to 22,000/- per month. Then after deduction of PF, ESI etc. the net take home will be 20,000/- per month.

Hi Swati, where are you working/posted? HRA if applicable & FDA/VDA, will depend on your Co.policy. You have to account for 12% salary towards EPF recovery, around Rs.200 towards Professional Tax, if applicable. 0.75% towards ESI contribution, (if applicable if salary is not more than Rs.21000).
