Do we need to pay Karnataka PT on part-time employees and contract workers?
From India, Bengaluru
Certainly yes. Part time workers earn less and pay less tax but if the six monthly revenue/ income earned is less than the minimum slab, obviously, they will get exemption. In the similar way workers on contract should also pay profession tax if their income exceeds the minimum slab. In respect of workers deployed though a contractor the contractor should deduct the PT and pay it to the local administration where the employee is deployed.

PT Slab & remittances period varies between state to state.

If you are from Karnataka & effective from April 2023 if the earned wages PM is less than Rs. 25000/- then PT is not applicable irrespective of Full time, Part Time, FTC, Contract workmen etc. If Rs. 25000/- and more its Rs. 200/- PM
