I have submitted my last 3-month salary slip. Now they want the last 6 months' bank statement. I provided them my 6-month bank statement but I blacked all other transactions because I don't want to disclose my personal other transactions. Can the company force me to show all other transactions? If they force me what should I tell you? This is a very big MNC. Is it ethical to force me to show all transactions?

What is the purpose? Just to know the salary earned from the past company? Or is it to understand how much should be the TDS that should be deducted for the remaining period of FY 2022-23?

A company which depends the employees' bank statements for deciding the past salary drawn or TDS or any other matter without relying on the statements given by the employee is not at all a good place to work in. Therefore, chose a different alternative to join.

Hi,

When you got shortlisted by an new employer to fix salary for you normally they check your past salary details for which you had submitted 3 months payslip. If the employer is not convinced with the genuinity of the payslip provided ( nowadays to get more salary from the employer candidates tend to edit the payslip cleverly) then Employer will ask for 6 months bank statement preferably in PDF format. The reason why they insist for statement with other transactions is to ensure that even that bank statement should not manipulated. I have personally witnessed many such cases wherein false payslip /bank statement provided. Small or mid size Organizations will not have time to go for BGV and they rely only these proofs. If what you had submitted is true, then why to fear to disclose all transactions. The payslip/bank statement will just go to your personal file after verification and they won't use it for any other purpose.

Wish you good luck !

You can ask form bank for particular name transaction. In net banking there is option you can download for particular name, amount and period. If so company will accept it without any doubts.

Hello V.M.Lakshminarayanan,
I'm doing part time work which is USA based. (No offer letter, No PF, No ESI, No ITR). They usually pay 23000-25000 rs every month for part time. And for full time job my salary is 22200. So every month back statement they will find 2 nos of credit which is very close. So they can ask why you did part time work. That's why I wanted to hide other statements. What should I do?
From bank statement it can be understood that it ks foreign transaction. ( For both translations no name is there, only bank no). Now what is the best solution?

Hi,

In that case you can submit bank statement with all transactions highlighting your primary salary credit. Mostly employers will not show much interest about other transactions. However in case of any such question you can present it as some personal income transaction belong to the family.

I too collect bank statements from candidates. We are only concerned about the authenticity of the current salary and not about other personal transaction of the candidates.

Wish you all the best !
