Hi All, Could anyone give your insights on the quarterly appraisal system and how the quarterly performance rating is considered for the annual appraisal? Is there a template or Excel formula/sheet for the calculation of quarterly rating and its cumulative final rating?

Dear Sreedevi,

You can set the normal goals for each quarter, measure the attainment and at the end of the year take the average of all four quarters.

Quarterly measurement is fine but much depends on the designation and the nature of work also. Certain goals can be measured at the end of the year. Take the case of "Inventory Turnover Ratio" for a purchase manager. Not that it will not be possible to measure quarterly, but it will be a futile exercise. The real measurement is for the financial year only. In such cases, you may have goals for the various performance cycles. It could be quarterly, half-yearly or yearly. All can go concurrently.
