Hello everyone,

I graduated in 2021 and joined the first company in June 2021 and left after seven months of experience as I wanted to change the career domain. I didn't served the notice period because of some issues in my life. Now to be honest , everything is sorted and my company was kind enough to provide me a relieving letter and experience certificate because I was in good books.

Now the matter is that I do have the relieving letter and experience certificate of my previous company but haven't served the notice period and unemployed for two months. But at the time of Background verification in my new organization, will it become a problem? I mean , will my new employer check with my previous employer regarding the notice period? What are the reasons can I give of living early and what to say if my new employer asks me about the notice period. I need help. I am really afraid . Please help me.

Additional information : My first company belongs to Telecommunication industry and am shifting to IT industry and I will be joining xyz organization in first week of April.

When you have Relieving letter and Experience certificate with you, I don't see any reason to worry.

The reason of background verification is to know about an employee's integrity, work ethics, behaviour and overall contribution to the organisation. Even if the new company does a verification about the notice period completion, you can keep your answer ready. They won't dig much as it seems to be your personal issue.

However, not to overcome this issue again, make sure you are completing the exit formalities properly wherever you will work in future.

Vaishalee Parkhi mam , you said though that keep your answers ready , but what are the reasons I can give as you said ?

It’s better you tell them the truth. There will not be any other reason to hide anything thereon.

Same think I am facing. I have joining date 3 days later. Should I tell this problem to HR by myself before background verification? Or If they ask then I will explain.
