Does Karnataka have any specific guidelines with regards to Probation- Confirmation? For How many months Probation can be extended and in which format. If the employee does not receive its confirmation mail at the end of the probation period, will that person will be considered confirmed or on Probation only. Can I refer to some authentic source for the same?

The terms & conditions of 'Probation' doesn't go by state-wise rather employer to employer. However there is no major differences between state to state or employer to employer. What generally common is, after joining the post as per Offer, the probationers are required to perform as per SOP, job description, duties & responsibilities assigned and submit Self appraisal report (wherever applicable) when it's due. The period ofcourse would vary again, as per HR norms followed. The period of probation, it could anything from 6 months to 2 years or even more. In case the performance is not 'satisfactory' employer can extend the probation period. Normally a probationer will be issued a memo reg.completion of probation period or otherwise also. It's necessary HR practice it's appropriate to issue a memo 'extending the probation period' whereas a format to communicate is not uniform with all employers. Establishments can have their own formats, medium of communicating it. There's no prescribed format. What's important is i) extension of probation for a specific period and ii) reason for such an action etc.
