I have been asked to formulate a conventional training needs survey for my organisation. Cud u help me in this regard. What all do I take into consideration while I design the questinnaire ?

The procedure of identification of Training needs can be evolved from the apprisal system.
Design the apprisal system in such a fashion wherein there would be a column for the Training needs of the individual.

Thanks for your help. We do have such an Appraisal system wherein the Training needs are identified. But this is not followed very strictly. Instead it is required that a format / questionnaire be designed wherein the competencies of an employee are put / rated. Based on this weaker spots will be identified & thereafter Training in those areas will be conducted. I do have the points that I cover for an Appraisal system. Can I add something different...extra ...?

The procedure for identifying the training needs shall emerge only out of the performance appraisals.
In the performance appraisals u can follow the following steps
1) Self rating of the emp / Employer rating
2) Expectations of the employees for next one year
3) Training needs required to meet the expectations
4) final rating
The training needs can be taken after consultation with the employee
for any further clarifications revert back
