I want to quit my job immediately from the post of hr manager. as my boss is inhuman he wants all the employees to work for more than 12 hours. and tells everyone that this order was formulated by hr manager. So can i resign from my job immediately. As a hr manager i need to think abt welfare of all employees but he says let them die. do what i want only. Always uses abusive languages with all employees.

Please let us know what you would have advised, as HR Manager, if a worker had asked a question whether (s)he should resign from a similar situation. Also, kindly tell us if you would need more information to give a concrete advice.

How long have you been working this particular Boss?
Working hours are regulated by various laws and so no 12 hr directive can easily be passed.
Abusive language is a sad aspect of your working life.
How many workers/employee have complained?
what type of organisation is yours- factory, LLP or company etc?
Do not react emotionally but take action/decision calmly.

Dear colleague,
Your boss does not seem to know that in India there are laws which regulate working hours and his demanding employees to work everyday for 12 or more hours is downright illegal. The worst part is though it is his thinking yet telling them that it is his HR order which only suggests deep psychic problems he has. Bring to his attention the legal provisions relating to normal working hours, double payment for OT hours , spread over etc. If he still insists , then get notice signed by him for such working hours which he will hesitate and want you to sign. If required escalate
the matter to higher levels but you refuse to sign this notice . Most likely he will mend his ways. Don't leave the organisation before teaching lesson to such a loony character as no sane boss will make such coercive demand.

It is good decission that you want to quit your job immediately, when things are not good, are to be left instantly to get mental solace.
If you are thinking the idea of quiting is best for you. Did the employees raise any alarm against the working for 12 hours ? If no, then you are not the right person to raise the matter on behalf of the workmen rather your role is a communicator to the management on the basis of complaint received from the employees. Are you also working for 12 hours? If yes, what you have done against the extra hour of working without substantial payment as laid down in stattute.
Is your boss propritor of the firm or is working for someone? You know the answer well and this will clarify your doubts. This kind of situation is prevaling everywhere, how many job you will take-up and leave.
As an HR you can do a lot against the odd, if there is a wish. If any employee comes to you with complaint against 'hour of working'. You can handle the employee by saying, though this is the decission of the management still you will put the matter before management. You can tell them that they can can knock the door of labour department, if they feel something wrong is happening.

Dear Muslyri,
As suggested by seniors here any where there would be disturbances, and specifically bosses would like to get more output for less cost.
Please clarify if the boss is behaving continuously with all other Managers or you alone in this manner, because you want to leave the job on that pretext/reason. Leaving the job is your ultimate call before which you have decide the pros and cons of present as well as future job.
If the employees have been accepting his/Management request for working more than 12 hours, they might be doing it for money.
It would be better if you allow the workmen to project the issue, as it is for them to react and you reacting would be only fatal, as your boss has already propagated against you.

Three days have elapsed since Muslyri raised a question and I and Nathrao have raised some questions. I did not want to give advice based on insufficient information about the scenario. We have had no response from Muslyri either for our questions or for the advices given by others.
Please see the discussions at https://www.citehr.com/595187-draft-...ne-our-mp.html It highlights the problems of giving answers to queries based on assumptions that we make.
I sincerely request members to probe more before giving advice. Please do not mistake my post and comment on it. My intention is not to divert from the topic.
