If the employee was working only 6 months and he died, Are his claimants are eligible for EDLI or not ? how many period employee should maintain his pf account for getting edli ?
From India, Hyderabad
As per THE EMPLOYEE’S DEPOSIT LINKED INSURANCE SCHEME, 1976
Employees will be covered under the scheme from the first day of their job.
There are no expulsions under the EDLI Scheme.
Note: The previous condition of completion of at least one year of the service for the contribution in EDLI has been debarred .

Dear krishna, you have not mentioned vital information-Whether Death while in service or Death after leaving Service.EDLI Benefit is paid only for Death while in Service. If service is 6 Months, benefit under EDLI will be proportionate.Maximum benefit of Rs6 Lakhs

Dear Amit and Srinath,
Even I am confused, require you feedback, one has mentioned that EDLI is claimed on first day of job and another has said that 6 mths service needs to be given to the org and event of death must be on duty.
Hence, what is the minimum duration to claim EDLI amount if employee dies at work?
Thanks and Regards,

Dear Mr HRAKASH,You are confused because you have not gone through EDLI Scheme in detail. Please go through the same atleast once before raising further queries.
one has mentioned that EDLI is claimed on first day of job-you have wrongly interpreted the reply of Mr Amit who has stated "Employees will be covered under the scheme from the first day of their job" which is correct.
another has said that 6 mths service needs to be given to the org -Nobody has stated so
Employee has to be Member of EDLI Scheme to be eligible for Claim. EDLI Claim is paid to Nominee, in case of Death of PF Member while in Service
Hope this Clarification will clear the confusion
