Hi, I am working as a HR Executive in an IT firm which has a total of around 300 employees globally ( in 7 international location). Currently in our India location the management want to enroll the PF benefits to all employees but the total strength in India branch is only 14. Our India branch is operating since 2010 and many employees are hired and left during this period but the total strength have never touched to 20 employees in a particular period. Now minimum 20 employees is the criteria for enrolling a company for PF benefits . Now in current situation,Can I enroll our company(India branch) for PF benifits with total 14 employee strength? If yes then how?

I have recently found that "ANY ESTABLISHMENT EMPLOYING EVEN LESS THAN 20 PERSONS CAN BE
COVERED VOLUNATARILY UNDER SECTION 1 (4) OF THE ACT." for enrolling PF benefits. Can anybody who knows about this can guide me the exact procedure?

Hi,
Priyanka as you said May be you talking about VPF
Voluntary provident Fund, in this Employee can contribute individually and there is no contribution from Employer.
You will get interest rate 8.5% PA, and there is no limit for Employee Contribution

From India, Mumbai
Yes .An establishment with less than 20 employees can be voluntarily covered under Sec 1(4) of EPF Act by giving a joint application to RPFC by the employer and majority of employees.
