Y'Day one labour officer has come to our office. he was telling that we need to submit the photo copy of Appointment letter of all the employee to labour office. pls let me know what i should do.
this company is new and we are only 31 members. pls let me know what is needful.

Hi Peer,
i have a doubt, as i told you that we are 31 employee, and all of us are covered under reliance insurance. company is paying the premium for every one.
now as we are already covered into insurance, do we have to registered under EMPLOYEES’ STATE INSURANCE ACT?

Dear anitha,
if ur office where it is situated is under notified area of ESI, u are under legal obligation to be covered under ESI.Having paid premiumfor insurance will not be suffice.
second point which u fave raised-labour officer has no legal competence to ask u to submit appointment letters of employees to his office uless some complint is pending before him regarding some unfair labour practice,. yes he can see the documents to verify the salary/ wages you pay.
Need not to get scared from officers. ask them the purpose and keep urself update on all related issues of labour law.
