Dear All,
I have done my distant MBA in HR from Sikkim Manipal University, but holding a position of Executive Assistant. Though in past i had worked as an HR executive cum EA. Since i have completed my MBA i am willing to change my profile into HR segment. But i don't think any good organization will consider my application and give me a role with the package i am getting now. So my friends are suggesting me to get a certification in HR from recognized B schools of India like IIM, XLRI who provides executive programs in HR and in many other fields. But few colleagues are suggesting that it doesn't gonna help because this is the same like MBA.
I wanted to know whether i should go for it ?? Please help me getting in right path. Need your suggestions.
Thank you in advance!!
Regards,
Archana

Dear Archana,
As per the description provided by you, I don't think there is any wrong in applying for job in HR. Since you are carrying a valid degree and that too specialized in HR, If you try your best and perform good in the interview, you can easily get a job.
But i do have a query..
As you have said, that you have already worked in HR & EA profile. Now you need to clarify that the EA profile was a secretarial job or a analytic job.
If you were in secretarial profile then you should be going for a pure HR jobs by getting your basics and fundas strong.
If you were in analytic profile, then you can opt for the same profile as today many MBAs after graduating get an opportunity in this profile.
As far as a course from IIMs & XLRI are concerned, you can go ahead and pursue those courses but that will just enhance your skills and knowledge. You will get a job based on your experience and the way you impress and gain confidence in the panel members.

Hi Ankit,
Thank you so much your valuable response. Well, my profile is a mix of both secretarial as well as analytic and there are many other responsibilities i am taking care of. Because with the venture i am working is totally new in India so you could understand its like A-Z. Being into HR will give a specific position with certain responsibilities which has ladders of-course and growth too.
I am confident but since i am paying attention on HR role in which i am not proficient, what you suggest i should strongly work on ??
Thanks,
Archana
