Dear All,
Its pity to know that in domestic construction companies employee dont get benefits such as PF, gratuity ,pension , no medical allowance tec. The condition of employees who work in construction/manufacturing companiesar bad . Its the profit for employers only .They are registered as limited companies but no benefits . On one hand they ask high attrition rate and retention policy and on other hand no benefits to employees . Since this industry is booming in India because of common wealth games and growing indian economy so people are coming from other industrya s well but real picture is pretty sad.

Mr Peer

The point raised by ms Gaur his reality

I too wokring as a HR& Admin Head in one of the construction companies and taking care of 3 sites

If you go through the company policy, it is all fine, but in reality and while you observe the Site execution and operation procedures, the facilies being provied to Construction workers is really pathetic

Since almost the Contract labours are floating one (in the sense , they will not normally keep on coming regulary as your company employee does)

The companies (Construtction) trying to avoid making ESI and PF contributions to Contract labours. Of course it is the resonsibility of Principal employer (the Contratctor) , the principal employer to the contractor avoids making payment towards ESI and PF as compulsory one on the part of the contractor

The situation is very pathetic ,as We insists on some basic coverage and benefits to the contract employees, it does not gets the attention of the company

I believe either the compliance of ESI And PF has to be made more strict for construction industry and a new scheme has to be introduced , get over the issue

In general the Construction workers do not get any benefits either from the employer / Contractor/ Statutory beneftis

All they get is only salary that too normally lesser than the goverrnment specified rate

Dear Mr Peer,
Greetings.
You are undoubtedly one of the top most participant on Cite Hr and I always admire your writing on different subject.
But this time I had to second the narrative of Sudhakaran ji and gauri ji. Believe me sir, things are even more worsened. My last five assignment has been with Contracting companies and the situation remains more or less same.
At present I am Sr.VP-HR &Administration in a another construction company and fully aware about the suffering of the labour and things are regularly shared with management but the outcome remains same.
The owners play every trick of the trade just to deny their legitimate due .This is the sad story of this industry.
Kind Regards,
