Please give your views on the question asked in Title 'Who is responsible to close the position on/in time? Recruiter, interview panel or Management or whosoever gives the final decision?

Dear Abhay,
Its obviously the recruiter, who is responsible to close the open positions on time not the interview panel or management.
Though they are a part in the interview process, responsibility is on recruiter according to my view.
Let other seniors provide their inputs on the same.

Recruiter will be helpless, if panel or management take their own sweet time or do not revert promptly. Some opportunity is lost because of delayed reaponses.
That is why companies have metrics to monitor various components of internal lead time. These metrics pin point areas where attention is needed and eliminates the blame game!

Dear Abhay,
As One of our member(Bmktts) said, recruiter will be helpless, if managent/ panel responses are delayed/ not prompt responses, they will be not responsible to answer concerned person ( who raised the RR) talks about closing the open positions. Its " Recuiters" response to answer them,
Plaese Note : Recruiters are not in a position to discuss above mentioned reasons of delayed/ not prompt response from panel. Recruiters has to close the position with all these hurdles. so" Recruiters are gretr and are Responsible "Isn't it ???
Seniors lets us know about this more...!!!
Thanks Abhay for your appreciation to my first thread.

Hi Roopa,
Recruiter can take follow ups of the interview panel for their feedback & schedule further rounds of the shortlisted candidates. However, my point is, the position can be closed only when the decision of whome to hire at what cost, is made & subsiquently when the candidate physically joins the company. Here this decision making is the most important part.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hello Abhay,
Making decission is a very important thing its true... !!! but its not a recruiters hand, its with panel/ management.
If they take a right decission @ right time, with a right componsation , won't be a problem for recruiters. as you mentioned follow up with the panel to schedule further rounds interview is not a easy task with few companies.
Corret me if am wrong ...!!??

Hi Roopa,
THATS THE POINT. When u expect recruiter is responsible to close the position, you can not & should not forget that its the management who takes the decision & they take their own "Time" for it. So how recruiters are responsible for non closer of the position on time?

Abhay

Abhay,
Of course...
Finally they blame/ put the black mark on recruiters for non closure of positions irrespective the reasons.
So, i put the sole responsiplity on recruiters.

Dear Abhay,

Let us first get the term 'closing a position' clarified to its glory. The recruiter and his worthy work comes into play only when the hiring authorities/admin/ senior management takes a hold on the quantification and quality of manpower that is needed in the firm and by what time. The recruiter, again, has a lot of work responsibilities varying neatly on the arena, industry and the country of the functioning of firm. In India, all that the recruiter does is formulation the JD and JD, posting and floating the job advertisement, creating a talent tool, shortlisting, confirmation and raising invoices.

Look! I might be making it simple a task, but it takes a lot to close the position in a given time-frame. All I would like to say is that when someone is hired as a recruiter, he is tested only on the barometer of how comfortably will he work in time-bound pressure. Yes, if you are solely into internal recruitment, the time frame might already be shortened owing to the lapse at the various pedals of organizational hierarchy. As discussed by another mate, the management, at times, take their own sweet time deciding on the mandates of the vacancy which would leave the recruiters with lesser time to close it. But you will also have to take into consideration that the recruitment industry of ours is a very mediocre one. Any trivial employee with a tool of job portal can deliver almost the same result that you do. The only thing that makes you stand out of that mediocre chunk is the level of comfort you seek in delivering even in short notice.

Wishing you all the luck!
