Dear Seniors,
I recently give TCS interview and recived their offer letter where salary was offered as per my experience irrespective what I am geeting in current organization.
I just realized that I quoted less CTC in their application form while submitting the document for BGC but share the genuine salary slips of last 3 months.
Please suggest what should I do.

Dear Manugupta79
It is difficult to give any suggestions under such situation; where there is no option but to endure. Perhaps this is the reason no suggestions are coming up.
Moreover; seasoned HR professionals are also aware of cases where a candidate may quote a certain salary (lesser) so that he is given preference; and he gets the job.
On being selected, the person may put up a request to enhance the offered CTC, which in general is not acceded to.
Moreover, on one hand you say - "offer letter where salary was offered as per my experience".
It is evident that you have been offered salary commensurate to your experience; and which must be more than the salary QUOTED by you.
Is not this correct ??
Now, can one expect a typical HR to go back and take approval from his seniors for a higher salary ??
It would be easier for him to select the NEXT candidate in line.
Having said that; I do not wish to discourage you. You can request them with proof and accepting the mistake made by you; at your own risk.
In case your request is not accepted; you have the option to continue with your job, where you are getting a HIGHER salary.
In private sector, there is no provision/guarantee of protecting the existing salary drawn by a candidate, or necessarily offering a higher salary.
Hope the above helps in sorting out your dilemma.
Warm regards.

Thank You Raj Kumar for your point of view.
The less salary quoted was a mistake but I told clearly to HR during the interview that I am ready to work on any salary as my reason of change is Job security as my project in current organization is ramping down so any salary as per by TCS is acceptable to me.
Though I made mistake in quoting the no. but still submitted the original salary slips for last 3 months.
I have also resigned from my current organization.
In this circumstance, could you please suggest what should I do?
With best regards,

Dear friend
Thanks for updating on information.
Under this situation, the best (and perhaps the only) option is to join TCS whether or not they accept your request.
By the way, are you aware that it is quite common that sometimes in one's career, one has to agree on a lesser CTC, under the following circumstances :
- if the company is good and renowned ;
working in a a brand name, adds PREMIUM value to one's career, which can give very HIGH dividends later.
- if there are consideration of location or any other conveniences
- if the job profilee is goos and assures job-satisfaction and steady growth
- if one wants to get out of the current company.
Hope you"ll consider the above and make a wise decision of your own.
Warm regards.

Hello Manugupta79,
Like Raj Kumar & Pon suggested, take a shot hoping that TCS would revisit your CTC--BUT be prepared for the worst, which is to join @ the Offered CTC.
For your long-term benefit, just review your action once--so that you learn from your mistake w.r.t. what you mentioned 'The less salary quoted was a mistake but I told clearly to HR during the interview that I am ready to work on any salary'.
How can it be a mistake of giving a WRONG [whether lower or higher] CTC figure in the Interview? Everyone knows that he/she is expected to give the CTC details--with the Salary Slips coming-in next. Either it's pure negligence on your part OR, like Raj Kumar mentioned, COULD be willful--pl note that I am NOT casting any doubts; just giving the way it's VIEWED by others.
Coming to the second part of what you mentioned--'.....am ready to work on any salary'. Then why the backing-out NOW?
And pl for heaven's & your sake, get your act RIGHT first--it's OK & normal for anyone to be ambitious, but crossing the fine line to get into the 'greed' domain would only effect YOUR career, not anyone else's.
A word of advice for your future--even though you may be desperate to change, NEVER EVER give any indication, either verbally or thru your body language during interviews, about your intent. It's more than likely to be taken advantage of in today's world. Hope you get the point.
All the Best.

Hello Seniors, Thank you for your view points..
I am very happy with salary offered and no intention to ask any more salary on account of my mistake. What I am saying if quoted salary be a problem when background check shows 10% difference in salary. I mentioned 10% less.

Dear Friend
After going through your mail It appears to me that you are in delima or specifically unsatisfied with yourself rather then offered salary. You are in view that you had not negocuates for salary nicely or may be now you see yourself differently after selection in company like TCS so your aspectation are different. Now you feel that you undetastimated yourself at first.
Just think that as you have to show the achievements in your job so the HR guys and their's are recuriting good quality staff, saving on or optimising salary offered and so on. As you had told him that you will accept and join at anysalary offered by them and also they way you handled salary negotiations for salary (as your statement salary based on experience) HR person did not considered your previous salary but general trend of salary for your post in TCS and other similar industries.
Two things are very clear now:
1. What is offerrd in not low or unaccepted but bit on lowerside. As Compnies like TCS must having some min and max salary limits for all levels. HR never offer salary does not fit in thier structure. So have satisfaction that what is offered is logical and onky bit lower side.
2. You have to join the job at offered salary, chance of revesion are very low as salary decieded by HR does not based on your previous salary but general trend and the way you handled your negotiations.
And have faith in your skills in future perform, access yourself and achieve.
Best of Luck

Dear Manugupta :
I understand your point of concern as, if TCS makes verification with yours ex-employer, and traces that you have intentionally quoted less CTC, whether you will be in trouble.
My answer : TCS will certainly have a doubt that with a view to grab the job, employee has misquoted the ctc on lower side. In case TCS becomes aware that even your job was not secure, with previous employer (as written by you), this will make their feelings stronger that you intentionally quoted less ctc.
You are ready to accept TCS present offer, but you are worried whether TCS will allow you to continue, if they smell something fishy !!
Circumstances, mentioned by Mr Rajkumar are 100 percent truth, why one accepts less salary while changing the job. (TCS people also are aware of all these things).
Anyway, as you say, you yourself have already submitted your Payslips to TCS, this is a good thing you have done. If at all verification is done, atlast your monthly salary will match, with the response of TCS.
Ofcourse, Monthly salary X 12 IS NOT CTC. Provide some documentary evidence showing your actual CTC with previous employer to TCS, and convince/explain orally, that nothing was done intentionally, it was a mistake.
If at all, they really have opinion that you are a Good person, and nothing is done with malafide intention, you may be successful in getting whatever you desire. Otherwise, looking at your current job insecurity, whatever you are presently offered, must be excellent for you.
Though the issue raised by you, may be giving you tension, Don’t worry, you are not in great fault. And I don’t think anybody will look into such matters very seriously. Relax..

Hi All,
I am getting a feeling that all here are enthusiastically answering Manu Gupta's query but are taking the conversation and query to incorrect direction. What I percieve is that his query is in fact very plain and
simple - Manu is happy about the TCS offer, salary, et al and is willingfully accepting the offer. His only concern is that somehow he mistakenly quoted a slightly lower salary figure while filling up the interview
forms. Now if TCS HR later on matches the documents submitted by him that includes his 3 months' salary slip they might wonder why the salary figure provided by him in the form is lower that what's there
on the salary slips. So, he just wants to ask if is it needed to clarify his salary figure typo mistake while filling up forms or is it ok to not do anything in this regard or if anyone of you would offer any different
suggestion.
I'm not from HR but my opinion would be to to contact HR and apprise them of the typo mistake in the forms. This can be done if contact with HR is possible and there is no further risk of complicating things.
Else, he can just remain silent and if later on this thing comes comes up he can accept and own up the discrepancy of typo mistake.
HR experts may please offer better suggestions.
