Dear All,
I have recently shifted from a recruitment profile (in a consultancy) to a Generalist role (in a Small Company). After 7 days of joining the Company is now offering me a Safety and security role as the need for a person in that role is urgent.But my reason for change from a consultancy to that Company was only the Generalist role.I dont want to leave the organisation but at the same time I want to be in Generalist role. Kindly suggest what should I do..

Dear Bhavya,
You are HR person and supposed to grow in HR profession only. If your present company is insisting to do the job of a Safety & Security, and if you are interested to do, no one can stop. However, the safety and security needs some qualification and training which you may not be possessing. For Safety you should qualify from a recognised institute. If you are not having requisite qualification in Safety and security, you may be questioned by statutory authorities as to how are managing the present job. It is better you seek for HR job only and get additional qualification for security and safety jobs also if you are interested to continue in this area.
