Hi, my previous employer is asking for adhar card when I requested to settle my PF claim. I had joined organisation in Apr 2011 and left in June. Is adhar card mandatory? If not what action should I take?

Dear,
Till date EPFO has not given any notification where it has written that for submitting FORM 19 & 10 C Aadhaar card is mandatory. Ask your employer to show any notification pertaining to their reason for asking Aadhaar. If you are employed in another organization till date then it is advisable to Submit Form 13 to your present employer to transfer your EPF & EPS amount.

Dear Friends,
As Mr. Ramnarayan has cited, even though the EPF issued a circular on 21.01.2013 insisisting aadhar number for settlements w.e.f 01.03.2013; it is kept abeyance vide above circular dated 06.02.2013.
Hence aadhar number is not mandatory for PF settlements as on now.

This is the way our Department Functions.
AADHAR Was not started in whole of India only few States at Initial Period now have extended enrollment in other states as well, keeping in view of this, it was obsolute absurd on part of EPFO to seek AADHAR Cards that to on a mandatory basis, by the time they reaslised this notification was gone.
But aftersome time they have kept this at abeyance, so bottom line is that Submission of AADHAR Card is not mandatory but those who has this have to submit at thier employers during joining/leaving or settlements...

Dear Bshnprsd
First of all check with your ex-employer the objective behind asking your Aadhar card, as on today this is not linked wit EPF. Better convince your previous employer's executive (he / she might not be aware of) about the latest circular which deferred linking Aadhar with PF.
Secondly you can transfer your previous Pf balance to current PF account easily by filling Form-13 and with the help of your current employer. Transfer would be appropriate than withdrawal, but choice is yours.
