HI All Good Morning,
I need your suggestion to improve my career as HR, I am working since last 2 years in a small company HR Department, where i am not able to get my salary on time, but my designation is SR HR Executive & my responsibilities are good.
My doubt is Which position is better either small position in a BIG company........? or BIG position in a Small Company........? Please suggest me
Thank you

Dear Chiranjeevi ji,

To me designation is not a matter. What is important to me is what I produce / what I deliver and in turn what I get. I believe, if I produce good / if I deliver good, I am going to get good. No doubt, designation helps you to project your self but it has no meaning if you have nothing with you to produce any thing.

According to me you get more opportunity to produce good / deliver good in smaller organisation. You get opportunity to prove your ability in smaller organization. You learn more, you enhance your knowledge, your area of functions and boundaries in a smaller organization and not in bigger one.

My suggestion to you that in the beginning of your carrier you should not look for bigger organisation and bigger designation.

Some companies may give you more than you deserve in terms of salary and designation. Such designations are mere on paper. You may get stuck there. I have seen many such cases.

You need to take your own decision on various parameters. I wish you a good luck.

Hi Chiranjeevi,
Both Keshav and Govind Singh have good suggestion. Chiranjeevi you have mentioned you don't get your salary on time, that is not good. We work for salary and not for charity, what is the use of high designation without getting paid for the work you have done.
You have worked in small company for 2 yr, it is now time to try to get a job in a big company. You already know how the small company function, now try to take a practical experience of working in an MNC. If you dont like then you could always try applying for a job in a small company. But until you experience your self you will not be able to judge which is better.
All the companies have unique policies and procedures and there is nothing to understand in the policies & procedures of company, once you join it you will understand it.
So all the best for your future.
Regards
Anita

Dear Chiranjeevi,
I can tell you with my own experience, a small position in BIG company is far better than any position in a small company.
Salary and appraisal are just a part of the package!! The main thing is: EXPERIENCE!!! Whatever you learn in a BIG company u can learn nowhere. Not even big B-schools can teach u the professionalism and personality a BIG company can give you.
At the end of the day, u end up being, more professional, have a better personality, and MOST imp....you are accepted by any company just because of the brand name you share (ofcourse the qualities of the brand are injected in you)
All the best!!
