2. if an employee applies for a half day, how much time should he/she be working.

Hi,
Why cant you put full day if employee is not asking frequently.
Half day = Gross salary/ no of days in month * no of working days like 29.5.
Half days timings = 4 hours. (total effective working hours/ 2).

I have not counted half days anytime. Some people have taken 5-6 half days but i have not considered any of those as any leave. But this is going overboard so just want to keep a limit to it.
Also, i do not want to keep it as a factory or bank timings for half days like actually dividing it by total number of hours. as for some, last year whenever there were too many instances of half days, if anybody completes less than 6 hours of work, i have counted it as a half day, but only for instances wherein frequent such situations are seen.

Thats what i am telling if employees are not frequently asking for half day keep it full day.
See if employees are taking more half days give them oral warnings by giving notice if again repeat then issue the warning letter
Do not allow them those are who are taking more than 1 half day in a month.
