Hello Professionals, I have completed my MBA (Hr & Marketing) in the year 2011. I have worked as a US IT recruiter for 6 months and later I got an opportunity to start new business. Unfortunately, it misfired. Now I wanna get back into the HR field will it work out or should go with the US recruitment. Please help me out.

Hi Varun. Yes this is a cross road, and I'm sure you will have many giving you great suggestion and advice.
But the real answer always must come from within your own self.
If you stay in Mumbai, or even not, I would encourage you to take out some time to chat with me about it.
It is important for you to do what you are born for, or atleast move in that direction, instead of what other people tell you to do.
Everyone has a different calling. What is your's? What are you born for? What will be success for you? How will you find out? How will you accomplish that?
This is the process of Self-Actualization. And true satisfaction and completeness comes only when we Self-Actualize ourselves.

See what most important for us in our professional and social life are our OBJECTIVES/GOALS that inspire us in our life at every stage of and help us to run and achieve the same.

And, you are actually distracted, your confidence level is also shattered now because of failure in your business, which resulted demotivation, therefore, what you require most in that case is to set your career objective first.

You have to decide what you want to do in your life. If you feel that, you can go for your own business but currently want a job, which can fulfill the motive of investment or give you some experience than you have to set a target of period for the achievement of this goal too. You actually have to sit and plan for your professional/career life.

Second, you certainly can go back to your HR profile but for this you have to recover, you could have earned the loss of knowledge and experience from this period you were out of job. Work to get strong your knowledge, apply for the job and need to be ready to answer your recruiters on the same decision of your leave Job and to go for Business.

You can also start with recruiting profile and for this, I’d suggest you to please forget the past, think about your present for future, put your sincere effort and give a new start by learning from your past mistakes

"The past is behind, learn from it.

The future is ahead, prepare for it.

The present is here, live it.

Best of Luck

Hi Varun,
"Calm down" is the first thing that comes to my mind when I read your post. The situation described by you is very common so do not hesitate as if you've done something really wrong. It happens to everybody. People end up in choosing wrong jobs so don't worry.
The option that you've selected - HR Field & US Recruitment - in my opinion any of them can be chosen. Preferably US Recruitment will be easier compared to core HR functions immediately for earning your livelihood (also because you've had hands on experience of 6 months) & in the meantime you can brush up your knowledge thoroughly to get in HR Generalist role. Here let me tell you, recruitment also comprises one important role of HR function & hence it's experience will be an added advantage.
