The zeal to fix all the illness of life has brought the whole humanity into a strange situation.

To experience the value of happiness it is important to experience the misery. The experience of being a king by birth is nowhere near to the experience of a beggar who suddenly by pure luck becomes a king. This is incomparable. The concept of avoiding the negative thoughts and focusing on positive ones in itself declare that they are there in your mind.A war will start in your mind-your conscious mind will follow what ever you will order but your subconscious mind is self proclaimed king, It is beyond control. It will give value to the thoughts equally. The more you will focus on positiveness with the help of conscious mind the more you will repress the negative thoughts.Deep down inside you- you will become a totally negative person but your outer core will be full of positivism, this in result is going to create a void in you.You will feel an emptiness in your life because somewhere you know that you are a fake positivist, a borrowed one. live your thoughts, cherish them, what ever they are.

Hi

The original post by Sumit and the rejoinder by Ashu are dramatically opposite in its content and tone. While the former swears by positive thoughts and exhorts others to pledge themselves it, the later view point suggests that positive thoughts are just another set of thoughts that are as good or as bad as negative thoughts. So the suggestion is to put up with both sets of thoughts. The post brings to the fore the individuality of the persons who have contributed.

To the readers my suggestion is to dispassionately read both viewpoints and then form your own conclusion as to which style suits you best and helps you in your daily life.

I am also taking the liberty of sharing the links to my Inspirational and Motivational blogs that has a lot of content that can be informative, useful and practical for those seeking inputs to enhance their quality of thought and life.

This thread has started on a galloping note and I hope many diversified

viewpoints will emerge and enrich the knowledge of Cite Members.

Three times the baton has passed with different thoughts.

Mr Sumit has totally voted in favour of positive thoughts.

Mr Ashu has recommended to take the thoughts as they come and enjoy.

Mr Jacob has nicely brought about the divergent approaches presented and

has left it to the readers to choose whichever appeals to them.

On my part, I would like to start with another dimension EMOTION.

Emotions have their rightful place in every one’s life.

Undoubtedly both Positive and Negative Emotions exist.

In various situations how we manage our emotions count a lot.

This has a bearing on our thoughts.

It is the order of this World that contrasts exist at all times.

Good and Evil,

Trust and Mistrust,

Honest and Cheat …… and many more.

Let us look at Nature.

When you grow a crop the weeds also try to grow.

The insects and pests loom around.

To protect the crops we have to remove them.

Let us now borrow from Management Gurus and start with the Great Stephen Covey.

In the wake of dire adversities Viktor Frankl imagined that he would escape the Gas Chambers of Germany

and live to see another day. His Proactive Positive frame of mind bailed him out.

Last week on 24 August I happened to post the following quote in Cite HR;

“Be very, very careful what you put in that head because you will never, ever get it out.”

That was about 500 years back as observed by Thomas Cardinal Wolsey.

Perhaps it is akin to Mr Sumit’s view.

It requires a sharp and stubborn mind to quickly assess and dispel negative thoughts INSTANTLY.

In our Cite HR columns many interesting references are being posted by our learned members.

Mr SATHYAISH on 21 Aug 2012 referred to a Brihadaranyaka Upanishad quote stating how

‘Thoughts’ go a long way in shaping a person’s Character. While starting the thread he mentions

that universally all Philosophers agree on one point – Our thoughts make us what we are.

Another Contributing member Mr S.R. Balaji posts all his messages with a underlining quote from Rig Veda.

“Let Noble Thoughts come to me from all directions.”

It is a recent sad news that Neil Armstrong who first set foot on the Moon is no more.

The place where he landed was termed Sea of Tranquility.

Life on Earth is far from being tranquil. It is demanding and challenging.

A wise man once said “ Peace does not come from the absence of conflict but from the ability to cope with it.”

Conflicts can be War or Mental duel between Positive and Negative thoughts.

Positive and Negative Thoughts will keep crossing in an average person’s mind.

For any person, it is up to his wits on how he handles the thoughts.

Hi
I appreciate the efforts of Mr.Raghunathan in sharing his views with apt references to various inputs from various contributors to Citehr.
He has rightly drawn attention to the fact that no matter what the thought, they trigger emotions and it is essential that we are aware of our emotions and can manage it. He has also implied that it is best we manage our thoughts and focus on positive thoughts so that we enable more pleasant emotions to trigger our responses.

Dear Sri M.R.S. Sastry,

You have viewed the issue from another interesting perspective.

The second paragraph of your message has to be etched in BOLD LETTERS.

Positive Thoughts have to be nurtured and no doubt everyone will strive for it.

The Challenge is to handle Negative Thoughts and in turn Bad Experiences.

In our child hood we are all taught not to go near the fire.

Still sometimes unknowingly we indulge in something similar and hurt ourselves.

The lesson taught previously gets reinforced.

We learn a new lesson ‘once bitten twice shy’.

Your message to learn from the experiences of less fortunate people is an important takeaway.

It is one of the important maxims of Chanakya also.

Life is too short,to make too many mistakes and learn from them.

Learning from others helps one to reconcile to realities and lessen the pain.

Hence the impact of Negative Thoughts is down played.

A nice post with new learnings.
