Hi, I have been working in a company A as contractor from company B. I have been working in company A ever since i joined company B. Now it has been close to 2 years since i started the work. It has lot of frustration with manager in company A where i am posted. After much thinking and reflecting upon the situation, i realised that job that requires living on the edge and doing fire fighting all the time is not a job for me.
So i have decided to change my career from Site Reliability Engineer for a large and famous site to lecturer in college. Since i am going for lecturer job my experience certificate is irrelevant and I am hopeful that irrespective of my previous experience i can get a lecturer job in college. So i want nothing from my working company A or my parent company B. So why should i serve the notice period, when i don't want anything from them. The company b requires me server 3 months notice period and i have served 1 month already.

You are wrong on THREE counts.
1] Assuming that you don't need the Experience Certificate of Company A or B is, to say the least, very shortsighted. What if you WANT/NEED TO SHIFT BACK TO INDUSTRY? Pl don't tell me "I won't"--since, using the line in an old song--'The future's our's not to see'.
2] The period you worked here is 2 yrs--which, by any count, is not small. By not having the proof of employment for this duration, you are--I think unnecessarily--laying the foundation for faking/falsifying the gap in your overall career track record for a later date. Even if you wish to say later [let's say 3-5 yrs down the road when you change the job then] that you were jobless, you would be giving scope to lighten your competence during the interviews.
3] In general, NEVER ignore/neglect/forget the Documentation part in your career--now or later. You wouldn't be able to get them when you may realize later that you need them.
Another aspect--though can't be branded as right/wrong--is this: pl DON'T mix-up professional & personal preferences--NOW OR LATER. Here you seem to be mixing your emotional aspects with the needs of career. Hope you get the point.

Certificates, douments are purticularly more important going forward. They always sum up your experience in what you have done in the past as there is something called "NO Rewinds". They provide you as your source from what you have gained or experienced. Generally if you donot attempt to take your experience you might fall in trouble of explaining what has been done.
A matter of 2 more months costs you nothing but gets you worth a while. Hope you deem this as a merit for your work where you may not need to look back and be at stake.

I totally agree with TS. You never know what you needed, until you experience its value. In your case it is very crucial to show to your future prospective employer that what you did during those two years. Though sometimes by saying that you were preparing for some competitive exam or helping daddy in business can be an excuse but sometimes not. Please act like a professional and serve your notice period.
