A Consultant will not be doing core HR functinons.He will be providing advisory or support services that are outsourced to him by the company like recruitment or training or pay roll management.Thus a consultant is not an employee of the company which outsources such functions.He will be doing an exclusive specialist function.A HR -Generalist on the otherhand will be performing core HR functions like joining formalities,identyfying training needs, calculations of statutory benefits, full and final settlement etc. as part of the company's HR and his responsibilties are limited to any one HR function at the entry level.he will have general exposure to all HR functions, to start with.Trust iam able to give you a basic idea to make a decision about your career.
