I have submitted my resignation to my manager. Now please tell me whats the procedure to proceed.
He will provide me a letter of acceptance ?
He will sign the resignation letter given by me and will give me photocopy?
Also when I will be getting relieving letter and whats the difference in relieving letter and acceptance. Also, was it important to mention the date i want to leave the company if it is earlier than whats the notice period says.

After submitting resignation, usually companies issue letter of acceptance, but it depends on company policy. The relieving letter is given on your last day of working, the acceptance letter is mere acceptance of your resignation mentioning the date of relieving from the services of the company.
You need to check out what is your notice period, generally it is 1 month.

Hi Karla,
It depends on your company policy. Usually your letter should be addressed to the HR Director/Manager with the initiate of your direct supervior. Then you will receive a letter of acceptance with a CC to Finance and Payroll Unit indicating your last day at the Company.

1. Submitting resignation is your right. There are chances that the company may or may not accept your resignation. They might have invested huge sum of money on a particular employee. Hence when the resignation is accepted, then their investment will go in vain. So, there are chances the company may not accept someone's resignation in such cases.

2. If there is no problem, then the company may issue acceptance of your resignation. And again, as said above, you need not insist or the company does not give you a letter as such.

3. But, at the time of physical exit from the company, you can insist the company to issue a relieving letter. This depends on the your request in your resignation letter as to when you desired to be relieved.

4. When someone wants to exit the company, it is always better that he serves resignation to the organization, and get relieved properly.

5. The relieving letter will help you submit your next organization, by which you ensure that you are no longer in service with your previous organization.

Therefore there is no hard and fast rule that these steps need to be followed in each company.
