May 1 is Labour Day in Maharashtra.
But our company has not declareda holiday on 1st May.
Is it ok? Will it have any legal repurcurssions? What does the Labour Law say about holiday on 1st May.
is it mandatory for private companies to give holiday on 1st May.
Please advice.

In a calender year in India there are few mandate holidays which has to be given and followed by all sectors whether private or public
In case the company has decided to work on 1st may which comes under the purview of mandate compulsory holiday
Then your management will have to pay 2-3 times the basic salary to each employee worked on that day
