Dear member
The definition of worker under Factories Act covers contract labour employed in the work of or in connection with the work of the factory and the Act prescribes health check-up periodically for workers of the factory and hence in my view, the contarct labour shall be also provided with health check-ups unless their presence in the fatory premises is of very casual nature.

Obviously, you must instruct your management to conduct periodical medical/health check up and document the same for all the workmen engaged by you. This is mandatory in all the factories and even in Building constructions. The medical check up varies as per the work environment. For Canteen workers, you must guide them for food handlers medical check up. For Drivers you must instruct for Vision Test. Those working in Hazardous environment for them you must advise for Chest X Ray and other relevant check ups to be advised.

Dear Friends
Yesterday I was going through some books. In that it is confirmed that after pre employment Medical Checkup to all the workmen engaged in construction site, all the workmen must go through medical once in every two years if their age is less than 40 years and if the age is more than 40 years then their medical must be conducted every year.
Regular Medical Test must be conducted to all the workmen and in addition the following test to be done.
Vision Test must be conducted for Drivers, Operators.
Chest X Ray must be taken and analysed alongwith other medical test for Welders.
Food Handlers must be checked for any skin disease or any other Contagious Diseases.
Any other tests can be done, if the Medical Officer thinks deemed fit.

Dear GJ,
What is the MAH hazaard?
In the list of operations you have posted there can be any Max Hazard.
If you have installed LPG Bullet, Or any other Flammable petroleum product or other Toxic Chemical then it would become major hazard unit.
As per Maharashtra Factories Rules rules the medical tests of all workmen including contract workmen is to be conducted. If the operator is working in Hazardous Processes than, the medical test is to be done once in six months.
It will be good idea to compare the results of previous medical tests, this helps in identification of OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS and according actions can be taken.
I do not know the rules applicable at Faridabad.
The Categories of Major Hazard Units are clearly specied in Maharashtra Rules.

Hi,
I have around 800 workers working in our plant engaged in various departments like - Welding, Grinding, Paint Room, Electroplating, Anodizing etc. Recently we made contract with a Doctor for the regular check-up of the workers. He will be visiting us on weekly basis. Please guide me what sort of check-ups we are required to have for the workers on regular basis. Here i would like to mention that we also have yearly check-up camps for the blood test, BP check, ECG and vaccination etc. with ESIC and other organizations.

Hi,
The processes mentioned by you are quite common.
Please refer to the chemicals used for Electroplating, Anodizing and types of Paint.
Refer the MSDS of all these chemicals and paints.
MSDS would specify the the medical test to be taken.
In all the above cases the medical tests are to be conducted once in 6 months and reports are to be compared with earlier reports to ensure that there is no deterioration in health parameters because of the occupational hazard.
