Gud mng to all, I hope the following information will be helpful to all. As per the amendment of rule 52 of the ESI (Central) rules, 1950 - THE AVERAGE DAILY WAGE LIMIT FOR EXEMPTING THE EMPLOYEES FROM PAYMENT OF EMPLOYEES SHARE OF CONTRIBUTION HAS BEEN INCREASED FROM RS 50/- TO RS 70/- w.e.f 01-08-2007.

Hey Shilpa,
The ESI amendment states that the average daily wage limit for exempting the employees from payment of employees share of contribution has increased from Rs 50/- to Rs 70/- per day.
That means employees who are getting daily wages of Rs 70/- would not have to share the contribution of ESI whereas the employers liability remains unchaged i.e employer will contribute his share.
I hope this clarifies your doubt.

Morning Minal !
Thanks for your email update on ESI. Actually this is only hypothetical since paying such low wages would contravene the Min. Wages Act. Most of us are already paying higher daily wages than this and it does not really affect us.
Thanks once again for the update.

Hey Sandeeep
Thanks for the reply, i fully agree with u that this amendment wont make a difference, but the attempt to post the amendment was to make aware all the members about the change.
If u can help me, can i know about the reimbursment of the contributions made by employees like PF, ESI and some details about super annuation?
Thanks again
Minal.
