What different ways can be followed for the opening session of a workshop on soft skills for college students
From Netherlands
Hi,
It all depends on the requirement to begin with many college's opt for communication skills training thats the base for all your workshops. Now a days there are etiquette workshops also being conducted for colleges. If you are targetting a IT college, then ITIL training is very important.
You need to first identify whats the market requirement & then accordingly market your training programs.

hi garima
Stick to the basics dear.
Your entrance should be very friendly as you can be talking about current affairs or normal scenario stories. Make it interactive and very smartly with great observation, you can sense how to move to the topic of your training. Everybody wants a relaxed start so give them a dose of laughter with smile and healthy stories.
Hope it Helps.
Cheers

Hi Garima,
You actually require ice breakers to start a session with College students
because they are scared of typical lectures.
You really need to sugar coat your soft skills sessions well so that they can swallow it without hesitation.
I use some ice breakers with college students like >>
- Add an Adjective to your name like - SMART SANJAY - ARTISTIC ANITA .. something which describes a quality of yours
The adjectives first letter may or may not match the names first letter.... ie it can be smart Anita also.
- If you were to make a movie on your life what would be the title of the movie ( creates lot of humour)
you can substitute a Novel instead of movie
- Or you can write a interesting quotation on the board pertaining to the subject and ask them for views
- Or you can show them a video and discuss
Hope it helps
