Dear Seniors,

I have two doubts -

The first is as follows:

I am MBA HR frm a good insti working for 4 months in a good firm in Mumbai.

there was some uncertainity abt my location, as was being sent to Delhi earlier. due to this i did not have much work, as the hr boss in Mumbai did not want me too involved in the matters here.

now i am in Mumbai for sure, thanx to the hr boss in mumbai. i had told him that i do not want to go to delhi n he fwd my case at head office n got it done. i was very happy n all.

now the challenge for the hr boss was to give me some work, which till now he was doing all be himself. he was reluctant at first n some 15-20 days went by, me continualy asking him n trying to assist him where possible.

but the problem is here... even after these many days .... he is not exactly open abt wat he wants to do, how n wen. one time he gives me a open field to work in, n then the next day he is like "no not like this do it like that" etc.

i am new to mumbai n the city is also not working out for me.

should i change my job so early in my career?

the second problem is:

i don't think i can do this kind of hr job for years together. should i try n change my field, if so how do i go about it?

plz help, coz i have been thinking abt this for a long time but am unable to cpme up with answers ....!

Pallavi

Hi Pallavi
Pallavi,
Don't get disheartened!!!..is all we would say at this point of time...understand your problem which is very frustrating to have a boss who dilly dallies...
What i make out is that your boss is a poor manager..or he may not have been deal with the politics of office...either case would recommend that you be patient & help him/her out....
Use this opportunity to help your boss...
Again don't give up..this is too early to base your decision on this recent experience..
Take stock of your strength & skills sets..your boss's weak areas..work around it..to your advantage...
Remember having a poor boss..is a like a adversity..probably calls for a challenge to overcome the same..belive me this would help you in future..
bide your time then make a change..
There's a famous line ...winners never quit!!!
Have faith in yourself...

Hi ,
Saw your mail. you have good qualifications & since you are already in the field do not think of changing it (as Rajatji has pointed out rightly!!!) these are initial teething problems one faces . So be brave & face it!!
Am sure that things will work out for you. The sky is the limit in this field. I suggest that you stick on for some time & analyse what is it that is going wrong ? if there is no improvement then try another job in the same field & by then you would have added some more experience in terms of tme frame to your CV. since you are located in Mumbai the economic capital of India there is no dearth of good companies there!!!! In case you feel that the city is not working out for you then Delhi or gurgaon/Bangalore will be the ideal choices to pursue your career.

hello Sadashiv ji and Rajat ji,
thank you for ur guidance.
it seems to be a bit hard to follow but am trying n will try harder in furture. but the problem still stands as it is....
we do not have a HR dept as such ... its just the boss n me .... so i guess i kinda am lost. boss provides advice n all but, well ....
i guess wat u say is right, time n effort are required.
hope i can do smthg of it atleast!
shall keep u posted of other major developments!
thanx once again!
will always remember - "winners never quit" :D :D 8)

hello once again,
i had one more query...
there are some reasons due to which i want to shift to pune.
there is no real hurry, but the sooner the better.
the profile that i have here encompasses recruitment, training n database mgmt.
but the calls i get from pune r only recruitment centered. if no other offer come my way, should i take an only recruitment profile?
also the salary i get here is good, but wat i wil get in pune wil be lower than this ...
so in short i am confused (in bold capitals!!! :? )
help .. advice , guide, .... get me a job! :D
Cheers,
Pallavi
