Labour department also (O/o the Commissioner of Labour) vide its letter dated 13.10.11 has advised employers to delcare mandatory holiday on 17th or 19th Oct. Regards Sathya

You are right that their is no mention of private organisation's to be closed other than govt.
In my company, have already taken a call on this and we have declared holiday for our Chennai branch only for 17th Oct'2011.

Hi,
They have not mentioned about Private Companies in that Notificattion.According to Negotiable Instrument act, The Employer can decide and he his the Person to give Holiday or Permission without affecting thier business.
