Dear All, On every late coming or 3 lates 1-day salary deduction, is it correct that there is no grace period. Also kindly tell is it not that there is always a grace period of at least 10 to 15 min. And if someone crosses the grace period then it comes under late coming.

Dear,
Employee's are expected to adhere to office timings. A grace time of 15 minutes is permitted after which it will be treated as “Late – Coming”. This is limited to 3 late – marks ever month. For every late – coming thereafter, employee's attendance will be considered as 'half working day' i.e. ½ day Leave Without Pay (LWP).
If an employee reports for duty 2 hours after the commencement of business hours, it will be treated as half day. If an employee leaves office more than two hours before closing time., it will be treated as half day & it should not exceed more than three occasions in a month. Leave application form to be filled while availing such occasions.

Dear Aarti,
Rules r rules afterall and everyone who require to be work in the organization then should have to follow the prescribed rules.
Late coming can be considered only once or twice in a month if and when there is appropriate reason, but when it passes the step of 2 then it will be habitual on the part of employee. So, such a type of habitual misconduct should not be endured at any cost.
Grace period has to be allowed to the extend and upto 10 minutes only. But it doesn't mean that one should come every day whithin the grace period.
More than 3 times late coming should be warned in writing; even after the occasion one started to keep it continue then show cause notice shall be followed and then u can proceed for punishment.

Aarti,
As per my thoughts, their should be a grace period for employee login and logout timings, as a company what everyone should focus more is the total number of working hours(daily/weekly) than counting on minute/seconds details. Company can initiate a action on an employee when they notice a pattern/trend over a period of time, in your case 3days is too short for any observations.
Company/HR should not get rude on the employees by immediately adapting the last measure as their first course of action. In first place, any impact/changes have to proactively communicated to the employees and it should not come as a surprise. In your case, i am not sure if this was informed to you in prior or came as surprise.
Thanks,
Nisha

Dear Aarti,
It depends on company to company.some companies do give the 15min grace periods for the whole month, there is no boundation like three days.its totally inhuman if company is deducting half day leave for a single minute.there is no hard & fast rule like this.company can give this grace peroid if it wants to give.

Dear Friends working in HR and other fields with my experience till date let me guide you regarding late coming and grace period funda.
As a company we need to present ourselves in time to customers and strictly adhere to office timings whatever so specified. Because we cant know whether a person i waiting for clock to strike 9 to call our office and discuss something with MR.X or someone waiting at reception to be guided.
So when a company CITEHR LTD gives official timing as 09:00AM to 06:00PM it is understood UNOFFICIALLY that every employee needs to be present at workplace ready at 09:00 AM and not just that his time / attendance card should be punched at 09:00 I have seen employees punching card at 08:55 then go to restroom to comb, apply lipstick , makeup, and then to pantry and chit chat with colleagues and finally end up ready at workplace around 09:20 so does this make sense??? No. and the time when you are ready at workplace really does make a big impression of ur punctuality trait which portrays you as a successful candidate for promotions.
So unofficially you are expected to reach CITEHR LTD CO where you are working at around 08:40 or 08:50 and then dispose off the accessories, dressses like overcoat, helmet, go to restroom to comb, make up , tuck shirt , etc and be ready at sharp 9. Now you understand why we feel angry when the EB / TELEPHONE BILL COUNTER does not open at sharp 9 because the employee comes at 09:000 and by the time he settles with cash counting, printer setup, booting up computer etc, it is 09:30 and it leaves some 20 dissatisfied customers outside the counter, if same thing happens in your company might be client might change your company , i.e loss of client may happen.
So unofficially you are expected to come at 08:40 AM and depending on ur make up and other winding up, you are expected to be ready in your workplace at 09:00 sharp, very few companies do mention that you are expected to be ready to work in ur workplaces at 09:00 o clock, so in my career wherever i worked I used to arrive well in advance and be ready well before time..
still companies do give grace period for unexpected circumstances, like traffic jams, puncture, train timings etc,, but this is only for rare cases and not daily on frequent basis, so in case of cynthia there is no need for all staff to come by 09:30 they should be present at 09:00 only some staff on some day who met with unexpected circumstances can take use of the grace period. The half hour is grace period and still if someone does not listen then action needs to be taken,, rule is rule can you argue with police if you dont wear helmet and he challans you for fine, no na then why does jas arora term this totally inhuman that company deduct half leave for single minute delay hope he doesnt know importance of time and doesnt know that half hour grace time is alredy given from 09:00 to 09:30 and only after 09:30 the deductions are going on, after all we need to draw a line and seperate,,, even flight take offs, accidents ,happen by minute only, its a matter of one minute only whether you live or die, or whether you catch the flight or miss it... so lets be understanding and understand how to give the best in our workplace. This not all employees understand so we need rules to make them follow it..

(i) how many times are eligible to come in late time as to be mentioned in the standing order.
(ii) if had used that opportunity, after taken into an account, and reduced a half-day salary
(iii) the late time is 10 to 15 min only.
Thanks...

Dear All,
Surprising to note that all of us speak on reporting in office at right time i.e @ 9:00 , then we should be allowed to leave the office @5:30pm sharply , which never happen .
we are always told to finish up ur work and go , whether its 5:30pm or more , then in this case why departure time is not followed .
