Hi

For anything you do in life, a clear goal /vision, adequate motivation / enthusiasm, hard work / discipline and the ability to take risks/ challenges are critical attributes.

However if you are seeking help in learning English what you require is the
key attributes called 'discipline' and 'enthusiasm' with which you can achieve
anything you want.

Your enthusiasm is the reason you wrote in at Citehr. The next test is to
be disciplined and follow the suggestions given here.

1. My first suggestion is to read as much in English as possible. A
standard daily English Newspaper and the Readers Digest have very good
reading material.

2. Make more English speaking friends and make a determined effort
to speak only in English, even if you keep forgetting words, or tend
to stammer or your friends tend to laugh at you. This will require a
lot of will power but believe me you will soon improve.

3. I would also suggest you try to learn at least 3 -5 new words
and look up the meaning in a dictionary. then try and use these words
in your daily work and in your communication.

4. If you still feel that professional help is needed then you will
have to attend English speaking classes

5. Finally, if you can, do visit my blogs listed below regularly and try to learn
the new words in it and also be inspired by it. You can click on the

You may develop a habit of thinking in english. Everyday after returning home take some rest and have dinner. once you are relaxed enough try to analyze what you have done the whole day. Try to describe your thought about diffrent things happenings for the whole day long and prepare your next days to do list all by your self and of course do it in english. Talk to yourself in front of mirror in english. While you see some thing try to describe what you saw later on to your self. Use english ofcourse. Watch english movies or serials and try to follow the dialogues very attentively. Make it a routine and you will feel the development of your english in a couple of month.

I completely agree with B. Jacob's suggestions.

Learning (anything) has to be motivated either by a fear (of losing something) or a desire for more.

If your need to learn English is motivated by a fear of losing something, then I know you will follow B. Jacob's suggestions. But, only till the time that your need is met.

However, if you want to learn English because you want to improve your current state and grow, then you will find it very difficult to start to follow B. Jacob's suggestions. Why? Because discipline is very difficult to begin with. However, your objective should be to implement those suggestions for at least 21 days. If you can pull off the first 21 days, you will be amazed how easily and effortlessly the following days will become.

Like B.Jacob wrote, your enthusiasm prompted you to post here. And, you probably aren't even aware that by simply asking for help, you are more than 50% on your way to learn English. Now, all that remains between you and English is your discipline and a burning desire to speak fluent English.

I wish you very good fortune and am sure that if you put your heart and mind to it, speaking fluent English will very soon become one of your strength.

Live an Abundant Life!

Hi
Thanks Gaurav for endorsing my suggestions. Really appreciate it. I also like the candid and insightful observations you share. A case in point being your feedback above that if the purpose of learning English is merely to enhance the job prospects and related benefits then the motivation to press on with the learning and put in the efforts would be limited. A larger goal would do wonders as you rightly emphasize.

as I feel your state in this regard, u can adopt following steps to do so:

1. First : All suggestions given here fruitful , u should adopt some of them which is possible and suitable with your current situation.

A) Take a note pad and keep in pocket, note down the senteces u speak through out the day ( as much possible)

B) at evening with cool mind, note down those to a note book and try to convert these in English using the knowledge & skills u have at present.

If you face problem in any word/ or sentence type and feel difficult, break it in two or more part , use another word, think abt new way to say that so that the view of the sentence should be same. << Now translate the same>>

DO THIS ACTIVITY DAILY UPTO ONE MONTH. AND READ THESE IN FRONT OF MIRROR DAILY. <<It will create little vocal power>>

After one month if u going to write down the senteces for the day,u find all sentences are already in ur note book.

C) Now start speak in English with ur family members first.

Be ensure first u speak in English (For your practice) and later on speak same in Hindi or in your Local Language so that they can understand.

D) After sucessful here or 15-20 days; u start with your friends with the same method. & here after few days start the same every where out side.

E) Now after 15-2 0 days of following above step, u start the same at your office, here u should analyse who are proficient in English do not repeat the same in Local or Hindi language.

BY USING ABOVE STEPS SIMPLY U WILL GAIN CONFIDENCE AND ACHIEVE THE DESIRED OUT COME.

Further;

Now to upgrade your skills/standard of language adopt the steps suggested above by other friends Like English TV channels/Reading Megazines/English News Paper to add new words and framing in ur dictionary.

I am sure there are also a number of websites which can support a persons interest in learning English. It is also important that when you learn the process must be enjoyable. I would also suggest that you find a mentor ( a person who is good in the subject) to guide you as and when you require help.
