Hello,
If you are a fresher, you will have to work as Trainee HR wherein you will get to handle HR tasks and thereby you will know what interests you more, be it recruitment, training, payroll, time office etc. BUT that fully depends on the company what work it allots to you.
My advise, don't hesitate to do any of the HR tasks, learn as much as possible. If you look positively, recruitment function will create confidence in you how to talk and deal with people, your vocabulary, your understanding will be enhanced.
So be ready to do whatever HR function being allotted to you.
All the best !

Hello Vaishalee!!!!
thanks for your reply
i truly agree with you and don't mind doing all functions as trainee!!!
but as u said it depends on company as well
all companies don't invest in freshers like us!!!!
i am asking you this question mostly because i have heard from good sources
is that we have to start from consultancy firms in recruitment itself
even one of the sessions i attended that expert said the same thing, that u only have start your carrier with recruitment
no much options u hold in pratical
so what u think is it true????
even u feel that we should not be very specific when looking for job and initially be as open as possible????

You said it ! You already know the right answer, only you have to follow.
It's not consultancy always, if you are going to get placed by your institute / college, you can choose manufacturing companies to get all over exposure. Pay wise it may not be as good as other cos. like software etc. However, experience you will get is vast. Even if you get to work in consultancy, you can always opt for a short course of practical training in HR to update and qualify yourself for generalist functions.
Hope it helps.

Hr Generalist has exposure to all HR tasks. If you get yourself trained in Generalist profile, the chances are bright to work in that profile in your own organisation.
Nevertheless, you can apply new companies with recruitment experience and HR generalist working knowledge.

Hi Vaishali,
I have gone through your replies. I am currently associated with a recruitment and staffing consultancy. I have total 1.8 years of experience in recruitment. Now i want to change my functional area to HR Generalist.
I am applying in companies for the same but not getting through.
Most of the opportunities i m coming across are from the Recruitment Consultancies and i am not looking forward for any consultancy again.
Please suggest how to get into the Generalist role.
Looking forward for your reply.
Thanks & Regards
