Dear Seniors,
Need a clarification with regard to the number of MATERNITY leaves with PAY that can be given to one of my staffs who is on a contract with us.
Some people are saying 2 and some say its 3 months or some 84 days can be given with PAY. She is not covered under ESI just in case this point is needed to ascertain.
Would be grateful to receive a clear reply.
Thanks in advance .

Dear V Praveen,
If your establishment is covered under the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 then you are to grant in total twelve weeks maternity leaves. For more details you may also go through section 5 of Maternity Benefit Act.

Dear Friends, Our company has the policy to give 25 days maternity leave only. It depends on firm to firm as this policy could not be defined. In general, I have heard it to be 3 months.
