If you ask me how a welfare for a Child came in? Simple answer Motivate a Child to do some activity to get something in return.
Same way Welfare of Employees is to keep the morale and motivation of the Employees always high to retain the employees for longer duration.
The welfare need not be monetary terms but in any kind/forms.
Thanks,

Hi there !
Basically welfare is nothing but the efforts made to anyone for a well being status and to help or facilitate one so that he/she can achieve his highest performance as well as personal satisfaction.
As far as labour welfare concerned, labour welfare are the provisions provided by the employer, whether falls in statutory or voluntary that improves labour's performance and his personal growth, so that he can input all his efforts to get the organizational success.
