Dear seniors,

i am having question about thinking of interviers - a candidate who is talking so much (more than answer to question) is really intelligent candidate or a candidate who is giving answer to question is dum….

Please suggest..!!

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Sachin,
It totally depends upon the kind of answers this candidate is giving, if it makes sense then why would an interviewer perceive the candidate as dumb.. Also some times interviewer is not in the right mindset to listen to long conversation so he/she may categorize the candidate as dumb.
If you can elaborate what was the question and the respective answer than it would be easier to compare whether the answer is dumb or intelligent...

Dear Sachin,
Unless your answers are not digestable / understood by the interviewer; despite of your good intention to reply in better way would not help you.
Most of the bigger comapnies expect to have command over english language.
So try to have command over english so that the person at receiving end would understand your reply with reference to your intention.
In small companies English is not mandatory language; so in that interview if you answer honestly & confidently in any language then your would feel that you are at positive side.
Trust this will help you to grow!!!

Dear Sachin,
When we take interview, candidate should speak 80-90% of the time and interviewer 10-20%
Now what matters is candidate speaks relevant or not. When the talk is meaningful, one needs to talk less. However, check following in the candidate's replies:
a) whether candidates quotes numbers in his/her reply
b) whether candidate gives references to any subject knowledge or not OR whether candidates gives references of his readings of business dailies, periodicals, journals etc
c) whether candidate quotes any past instances of what he/she has done rather than what should be done.
d) whether candidate quote famous sayings or proverbs
Just recently there was similar discussion for which I have given reply on behavioural interviewing. Please check the following link:
