Dear Seniors,
Today I am implementing work permit system in my facility
The following are the permits:
Hot work Permit
Work at Height Permit
Excavation Work Permit
Confined Space Entry Permit
Safety System Bypass permit
Electrical Work Permit
Along with these the associated documents "Electrical Isolation" and "Compressed Air Isolation" are also introduced.
Now my question is what is "Cold Work Permit" ?
It is an metal working company. Pls. advise. Its urgent.

Dear SSM,
Cold work permit shall be used for tasks that are not classified as Hot Work, but still require to be covered by a permit as defined in the procedure or if the work is complex and needs the strict controls identified by the Task risk assessment for the work to be safe.
normlly a cold work permits validity will be 3 to 7 days. Revalidation is required after each shift/12hours.
The issuing authority is noramlly the In-charge of the site.

Dear SSM,
Cold Work Permit – mostly used in maintenance work that does not involve hot work.
Cold work permits are issued when there is no reasonable source of ignition and
all contact with harmful substances have been eliminated or appropriate
precautions been taken.

Cold Work: An activity which does not produce sufficient heat to ignite a flammable air - hydrocarbon mixture or a flammable substance.
You are requested to go through the following link and download the OISD standard on Work Permits. Its clearly mentioning everything about Cold Work Permit with a sample. After doing this if still any doubt come with with the same. Let's discuss.
