Hi,
I work as an Executive - HR in an advertising agency.
I need to know if we can issue a salary certificate without a purpose mentioned in the request by an employee. This is a salary certificate and not a salary slip which we mail our employees every month.
Regards
Tarunya

Tarunya,
Salary Slip is sufficient to issue and no other document is required during the financial year. And if the employee falling under the tax bracket, Form 16 shall be issued after the completion if FY.

Thank you Anuarg,
But when an employee specifically asks for Salary certificate, should we ask for a purpose for such a certificate.

IT IS ALWAYS ADVISABLE to mention the purpose for which the salary certificate is being issued. Hence whenever an employee ask for salary certificate ask him mention the purpose. If no purpose is mentioned, atelast you put the words that the certificate isbeing issued for personal purpose. In this way the employee will not be able to misuse the certificate.

Taunya,
A salary slip itself an official statement of earnings received for the company and hence no other certificate is required to be issued neither entertain such request. This inappropriate to demand the salary certificate for whatsoever reason besides the salary slip already been issued. We never entertain our employees in this regard.

In my case MHADA has made it mandatory to attached Salary Certificate, if not then you fail in eligibility criteria. THEN what ????? to dooooo.......
