Dear Members,
Can you pls help me to find out the percent of salary rise companies are planing to give in year 2010. I am working with Pune based software company. We are doing the appraisal in the month of Dec-10.
So request you all to share the % rise given in your company or planned to give in your company.
We have the software development & BPO processes so it will be great if you share the average hike for both domain.
Pls mail me at .

Dear Sunil,
Strangely to my knowledge there is no strict and general % hike formula in the IT world.
The salary increment depends on factors such as
1. yours company profits and the CTC distribution on employee cost
2. technologies (rarest technology people costs more)
3. resource knowledge, the experience and their potential and performance
4. other factors - with in business unit or project criticality
The companies are giving two kinds of hikes
- fixed amounts for each rating
- fixed percentage for each rating
You should probably go for which one costs less to company and at the same time balancing its ditribution across your rating bands
More importantly determine the normaluzation curve of distributing the ratings Vs people
Make a simple table and determine the cost on two alternatives
I have no idea if you are aware of this. Few things seems basics to all. Consider all factors and build a case study
In my company (Dvlp centre) this time they followed - fixed amount slabs on gross salary
ex: 20000, 35000, 50000, 75000, 95000
You can choose percentages also like - 4% thru 20% as per your organization capability.
I have no idea on BPO.
Thanks,
Nandan

Dear Sunil,
I have done some research over the B.P.O's... So the salary increment depends on the performance appraisal.. The more the score (Better the performance) more the increment and lower the score lower the increment... As per statistics... Around 10 B.P.O giants in Mumbai give a percentage increment over the basic salary... And the percentage may vary from 3% to 15%.... But you have to keep in mind the condition of your company and also the market condition,, since a not so good salary increment plan may lead to a high level attrition....
Best of luck.
