Dear Abhay
Please go through the below from Factories Rules:
The occupier while obtaining or developing a Material Safety Data Sheet in respect of a hazardous substance shall ensure that the information recorded accurately reflects the scientific evidence used in making the hazard determination. If he becomes newly aware of any significant information regarding the hazards, of a substance, or ways to protect against the hazards, this new information shall be added to the Material Safety Data Sheet as soon as practicable.
According to my understanding no renewal frequency is fixed as per factories act. You have to check it wether any other acts having such provisions.

Dear Abhay,

As per OSHA 1910.1200 App E . . .

In order to ensure that you have a current MSDS for each chemical in the plant as required

The rule does not require employers to maintain records of employee training, but many employers choose to do so

The list will eventually serve as an inventory of everything for which an MSDS must be maintained.

OSHA "Checklist for Compliance MSDS"

The following checklist will help to ensure you are in compliance with the rule:

Obtained a copy of the rule. ______________

Read and understood the requirements. ______________

Assigned responsibility for tasks. ______________

Prepared an inventory of chemicals. ______________

Ensured containers are labeled. ______________

Obtained MSDS for each chemical. ______________

Prepared written program. ______________

Made MSDSs available to workers. ______________

Conducted training of workers. ______________

Established procedures to maintain current program. ______________

Established procedures to evaluate effectiveness. ______________

Mr.dipil explains well please check/refer the factory act also. . .

Hope its helps. . .

dear abhay,
i will tell the procedure what we follow -
msds reg. the raw materials - have to check with the vendor or insist the vendor to send the material along with the msds, as many are not coming with this. we need to have a track on the msds & can find the updates.
reg. finished goods, a msds would be reviewed whenever there is a change in the additives or the process chemicals. if equivalent chemicals are used & if your product specification does not change, then the same msds can be used. where as if there is a change in the specifications or even a variation the msds needs to be renewed & revalidated.
I do not know the law. lets wait for some more inputs.
