dearall, can i have a travel policy and give it to them without increasing the basic.like on 2000 i give them 200 conveyance in hand without making the salary 2200 . Is it possible and legal????

Hi,
You cant add conveyance with the Basic pay at any cost.
When you are paying the compensation you can say for example....
the labor pay is 2000 per month then the basic could be 1000
and the conveyance can be 300 to 500 or stuff like that but you should not name it as conveyance when you say included to the basic pay.

I hope you understood the Basic pay is different and the Conveyance is different that which you cant add to basic.
Just like this you can just go for browsing about compensation and the pay slip structures online and you can even remodel the structure of the pay slip in your organization in future.

but also one more query ours is a contractual staff so they get a lumpsum and not a divided salary. So if 2000 is consolidated then will a 200 inhand be a taxable or legal issue??

Hey that depends on the agreement that you made or signed in the papers.
If you have signed and made them work more than 8 months then you have to make them as your permanent employees according to labor act.
So better change the contract employees once a 6 months then you no need to provide them with the allowances that what you give to your organization employees.

You have many things in compensation.
The main aim of this act is to see the employee should not get spoiled with their work and should get the sufficient and the max benefit from the employer.
But the employer every time looks after to save more many rather than giving them.
But hope you would maintain the employee happy by providing better pay as well as you dont get more expenditure.
