Hi ,
I just wanted to know whether while issusing the confirmation letter, whether we can put in the said term " notice period will be one month only as per appointment letter dt __________ and it can't be reduced.Management will not entertain any request for reduction in notice period .And No leaves during notice period and if taken it will be treated as leave without pay.
Please give me the proper wording for the same .
My problem is staff dont even give proper notice of 1 month ,sometime 15 days etc and upon that go and take leaves. how to tackle this issue.

Proper notice is not being given because there is no consequence. Without a penalty, Staff will continue to set their own policy, which would foster chaos within the organization. I suggest something similar to:
NOTICE OF LEAVE
Effective immediately, a 30 calendar day notice is required prior to taking leave, except in emergencies.
In case of emergency, notify your supervisor as soon as possible prior to taking leave.
Anyone who fails to comply with this requirement, will not be authorized to leave, and if they do take leave, will be considered to have abandoned his/her position. The Company will take appropriate steps to fill that vacancy.

Hello Ujjavala,
You can not restrict employeess not serving for whole month or giving 30 days full working.
First of all clearly mention in your appointment letter about this NOTICE PERIOD clause and on confirmation you can just simply write that you are hereby confirmed w.e.f.........All the terms n condition will be same as stipulated in your letter of appointment.
To minimise this, you can do one thing. Once a employee served his/her resignation...........you must accept it in writing duly acknowledged by the employee, clearly mentioned that your resignation is accepted by the management and you will be releived on so ....date......
If he/she served till date..your purpose is fulfilled...or if he/she leaves before that you can deduct his/her salary of remaing days.
Your letter of appointment must be very specific for all employement issues.
Hope it will give some benefits.
thanks
