Dear all, Can somebody help me by explaining what is Statutory Audit in HR point of View? and what are the procedures to be carried out?

1) To cross-verify the calculations made in filing Challans/Returns for both EPF and ESI.
2) Whether the Challans and Returns are being filed before the due date of the same?
3) To cross verify the new joinee and left employees data in the details submitted

Statutory Audit applicable to HR Function would be a Statutory Compliance Audit. This audit will focus on Compliance to provisions of different acts and legislations relating to employees and labour. Generally a compliance check-list is prepared for each applicable legislation by auditors before starting audit.
